Fishing Derby

The fishing tournament for youth 12 & under was sponsored by Louie Herbaugh, and L & L Gravel. Thanks to his hard work seeking donations,
every youngster received something for their efforts.   Marissa Sawyer took first place with the total fish weight Jacey Nutter came in second Caleb Busch won the the "mystery fish" award.  Also pictured is Gage Reiser fishing.
 
Turtle Races
 
The ever popular turtle racers had trouble finding turtles in the heat but some 55 plus youth raced their turtles on the hot sidewalk. In the consolation race Reese Munford took 1st and The Springer Kids took 2nd Pictured are the Championship winners.  Grant Ahlstrom 1st. and Drew McIntosh 2nd
 Water Park
The Music Boosters provided relief from the heat in the form of a water slide and wet banana on the northeast corner of the courthouse square, while the FCCLA provided another option to cooling off in the form of a dunking tank on the southwest corner. Thomas County Historical Society Lunch
 
The Thomas Co. Historical Society members offered a free will donation lunch stand that featured all donated items from the various members. R.H. Eatinger
with help from Gary & Ronda Reiser served approx. 125 persons.
Chicken Bingo
 
Korri Baird of Firth, NE (the grandaughter of Kevin and Kathy Hood)  won the jackpot of $56 in chicken Bingo

The Thedford Service Club sponsored the parade with the theme "Nursery Rhymes"  Despite the heat, the float numbers were up.  Winning first was Ewoldt's Grocery with Rub a Dub Dub, Three Men in a Tub, Come
to Ewoldt's and Get Your Grub. Second went to Country Salon with Mary had a little lamb whose fleece was white with snow, and when Mary needed a perm, the Country Salon is the place to go. The Roadside Inn took third place honors.

Root Beer Floats at the Life Center
 
The Thedford Life Center again offered their own relief from the heat in the form of root beer floats. Pictured Stanley Mercer and Gail  Johnston serve Root Beer Floats at the Life Center.
Dave Haumann Receives Good Neighbor Award
 
Dave Haumann received the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben/Omaha World Herald sponsored "Good Neighbor" Award for his many years of service to the community in maintaining the cemetary, volunteering in the Service Club, the
American Legion and wherever else he saw a need to help!
 
Service CLub BBQ Supper
The Thedford Service Club members and others fed approximately 500 at the free will donation BBQ. There was enough meat leftover, that some 25 people
will enjoy this year's fair meat for the next few months.  The packages sold for $40, quite a bargain considering the price of meat in the store and the
time in preparation, cooking and serving.
Musical Performances

North -vs- South Softball Game
    A hot night of softball was held on Friday night.  The captain and coach for the North was Bill Taylor.  The captain for the South was Robert Merchant and coached by Jen Busch.  This game was sponsored by the Thedford Service Club and the final score was North 19, South 7.

Watermelon Feed:
The Thedford Service Club sponsored a watermelon feed before the North vs South game:  Several turned out to enjoy the watermelon donated by Ewoldt's Grocery.
